Re: company of heroes 2
all i'm playing these days is cs:go
Re: company of heroes 2
i almost picked that up, but i already spent oodles of time on counterstrike from when HE grenades could headshot to the last days of 1.5 before the steam 1.6 takeover. have a nice new computer that could take it though
coh2 has a nice myth feel to it. it's almost like i'm playing the ww2 plugin but that is in theme only (except when you figure 8 with scoutcars equipped with flamethrower engineers), except its more like reg m2.
biggest difference is building pre game to building in game and 'cover' terrain plays a role instead of elevated terrain
MOLOTOVS are a huge plus, my conscripts turn into dwarves, luck involved. pro scene could easily be taken over, learning curve is the same shit as myth 2 where if you know how it works you are miles ahead of the unaware.
elsewhere in the steam universe, the dead hold alpha seems interesting and raw but i'm having a hard time finding it contagious
mobile device:
midnight star is a nice fps designed by the infamous civil order general KEN *SF*
game of war chat is eerily similar to myth sometimes, not to mention the most productively grossing mobile game currently on the market
the Kingdom vs Kingdom battles are like krok enigman godcops liger raziel nemesis limp rawr flatline tiger gkg zer late-ducky BATMAN unleashed, its a fancy to see old faces in new places. especially ZAK, he's everywhere
and i'm not trying to name drop here but every once in a while the cu makes a vicious strike

CoH/CoH2 are definitely solid games and they are indeed the closest you're going to get to Myth-style micro these days. They do have legs as well... CoH is quite old at this point and still has quite an active player base. I believe they even broke their concurrent online players record recently which is pretty impressive.
I haven't had a ton of time to put into CoH2 yet but it seems pretty good as well. I played CoH quite a lot and once a bunch of balance issues were worked out it was definitely an esports-level game. I agree with par that the learning curve is pretty steep though.
