Any Way to play Myth 3 Co-op?

A single berserk reached us yesterday, after having come all the way over the mountains from the city of Willow, fourteen hundred miles away. He delivered to Alric a single package the size of a man's fist, wrapped in rags, and refuses to talk with anyone about events in the West.

Any Way to play Myth 3 Co-op?

Post by sexyfrozen »

Been at this a couple days now and since Mariunet is down I don't know of any other way to do it and I have no idea where to go for it.

My friend and I decided to play Myth 2 and we wanted to play Myth 3 afterwards. I personally have had the game for years, but never played it. Either way, we couldn't get to any server of sorts, nor could we find one, and we tried through direct IP but still could not get it working. I've got a public so I attempted to host it but no success. We even tried Hamatchi but still no success. Is there really no way to get this to work? We're on the latest version of like 1.3 or 1.4 or something. Would an earlier version work better? Any help is appreciated.

In the mean time I'll hang around and play some games of myth 2 even though I suck horribly at it.

Well you can play myth 3 co-op on the marius.net server, but i'm pretty sure gate of storms is strictly for m2. And I'm pretty sure the marius.net server has ended it's own life, despite having no one playing on it for about 5 years and finally becoming a commodity after playmyth.net shut down.

Install Myth 3. Update it to v1.3.1 (found here).

If MariusNet comes back online, you can always play it there by placing this preference file in your Myth 3's "preferences" folder after extracting it. Then you log onto MariusNet using the same login and password you already have for forums and Myth2. The game will still say PlayMyth but you will be on MariusNet so don't worry about it.

If MariusNet is not an option do the following. Click on "Play Online". Select "TCP/IP" found at the top. If you both are on the same network (LAN), the game being hosted will show up on the list to the left. Make sure whoever is hosting, has the port Myth3 uses open. I don't know for sure, but it might be the same one Myth 2 uses (3453). If you are on Windows, when you try to host a game a prompt will ask if Windows Firewall should allow others to connect. Make sure both boxes are checked and allow it. If this prompt does not show up because you cancelled it last time you saw it, then you will need to add an exception to your Windows Firewall manually.

Since you both are not on the same network, you will need to join by typing the IP address of the host player. To know the host's IP address, tell them to visit this site. The host will open a game and you will type the IP address they gave you. The port might be needed as well, so if the IP address does not work alone add the port like this:

XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:3453

The "X"s will be the numbers for the IP address. Then add a colon and the port number. Keep in mind, Myth 3 has issues with certain operating systems so you might not even be able to run it well.
