Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
Asmo, choices look fine so far, however we need better descriptions on which plugins these maps are coming from if the names are not the same. Many of these have several variations in different plugins as well.
I found one: in the midst of four herons is from the whirlwind plugin.
I cannot find the "a day in the beach (dark)" that you listed. I see some meshes for a day in the beach in the "modus operandi" plugin, but there is no (dark) mesh for it.
I also do not know what version of desert ruins (trow) you are using. There are 3 possible plugins that I have which this comes from: Desert Ruines v1.01, Desert Ruins and Monsoon Bay, or HMP 2015 maps a6. Which one is it?
I will try to include full plugin names and links later. If I am unsure about the proper version for something then I will just ask.

I looked at your suggestions LSO and I am fine with them. Asmo and I will try to sprinkle them into future weeks. If anyone else has more suggestions let us know here.
Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
Should be desert ruins v1.01, which is the version on the tain
Also, would like to play one of the other meshes too (light/dark/fg)

oh lso, I see the confusion now, that was just a typo. The copy paste got messed up, its not 12 mins in water, its just a 12 minute game.

Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
we have 1 or 2 objections on the RUBBER DUCKY assassin targets choice. I like doing different stuff that hasn't been done before, and I think assassin is a good gametype that is underitilized. However, the more I think about this choice, I am not that big on it either, mostly just because it will likely play out a lot like ctf anyway, since the duckies are fast enough to get to the other side of the river before anyone can touch them anyway.
Asmo, you may want to look at that one again. We got time to change it still.

replace rubber duckies with a PMP map

Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
Bump. I just did a major update on the map list. 1 map has changed for round 1.
Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
Working on a update to under muirthemne, I lowered the mesh and made some other extensive changes, so I'm starting from scratch with all the unit sets except the light set. So if you (or anyone else) want to see any unit sets in particular added, let me know.

Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
Couldn't it be considered rigging if the maps were picked by 2 people from the same team? or just 1 person then approved by a person from the same team as him?
I say
Each Captain from each team picks the first 4 weeks of games
and the Finals captains each pick 3 maps with some sort of plan for 7th map
I'm not doing this just so I can have the maps I want in the tourney
I am saying this because the system is a little sketchy
how about it?

Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
Then it's properly on the objector to explain what the bias is, and how it favors that team. Let's face it, Asmo and GKG are as close to myth nerds as anyone in history, and it's likely they'll favor maps/games that either provide a lot of inherent challenge, or that reward innovation (read: they've found a trade/strat on a new-ish map before anyone else because no one else gets excited by it to do so). There isn't going to be a whole lot of Clash FR or Desert CTF (thank fucking god).
Even failing that, go ahead to the next step and put forth your suggested changes* so if they reconsider, the dialog doesn't have to unnecessarily drag out waiting for replies in a forum.
* - map changes, as overhauling the system at this stage is ludicrous to even propose

Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
Some map suggestions:
10 min KOTH on Cardinal Sins (I'm still finding a link)
12 mins Captures on Rank and Defiled (Myrks): http://tain.totalcodex.net/items/show/rank-and-defiled
14 min CTF on The Spinach Between Your Teeth (light). I think this might be the plug: http://tain.totalcodex.net/items/show/k ... ished-maps
10 min Terries on Vertigo (FG): http://tain.totalcodex.net/items/show/v ... ition-2013

Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
I could possibly use the middle 2. I wouldn't do captures on Rank and Defiled though, it plays out bad.

Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
LSO - while I understand the concern somewhat, MWC has always been done this way since forever, and there are several counterpoints to your concerns that you should consider:
1) Are there any examples of TO's gaining a clear unfair advantage just based on their map choices? Not really. And any argument that could be made is basically impossible to prove.
2) Even if someone wanted to rig the map picks in their favor, how exactly would they go about doing that? It is very difficult to gain an unfair advantage just from map picks that isn't immediately obvious to everyone. If all the maps are all light, all dark, all trow, all one or two gametypes, etc., then that would be a clear bias looking for an advantage. I am not sure any other way to do it, let alone do it in a way that isn't so obvious.
3) Asmo has a history of picking good maps for tournaments. People have had very little issues with his map choices for years previously, which is about as good as it gets considering everyone's different preferences.
4) People have played on almost all of these maps previously, so it is pretty much impossible to gain advantage by looking for small flukes in the map that are difficult to figure out. Almost all the maps are well tested.
5) Asmo and I are being open to suggestions and handling the decision-making process in an open, responsive, and transparent manner.
6) The only real alternative option is to do rotating map picks or what not between the teams. This adds more work for teams to figure out their map picks, which by default results in a less sophisticated selection of maps/games. You would see a lot more standard picks in this situation (as wwo said - boring). So best to leave this then to a few dedicated, sophisticated people to engineer a nice selection. And as mentioned in point 5 above, we are using everyone to help us brainstorm ideas anyway.

Re: MWC 2017 - Maps
I didn't have time to get around to switch things up. My team is going to play the maps as is.
If both the teams in the other match DA/Team LSO can both agree on a light map/gametype to play instead of Yukigassen then by all means go for it. Otherwise just play the Yukigassen pick as is.

Anyone have the download link for aztec oranges? I couldn't find it on the tain, so I am guessing it is in someone's hl.udogs folder but I don't know who. Also, anyone know if the latest/best version is MWC15 or TE 1.1?

Thanks hmp.
Everyone will need to download this latest version of Aztec Oranges that hmp just linked.
Also, what are people's thoughts on the time limit for majestic falls FG? 12 minutes or 14 minutes? It is a rather large map.

well, it's technically 1 week left assuming we win. However, there is no guarantee that we win. And also, if Dragon Army will play another week or 2 we can still keep playing regardless.

Just an idea for finals: 1-2 surprise map/gametypes that arent announced until the day of the finals.
Obviously not picked by either team.

I'll check it out. It's been played before in MWC's and MWC finals so I don't think it should be an issue.
