So in order of strength according to Paris' TA's.

Team Paris - 54
Team Limp + Dantski - 51
Team Zak + GKG - 50
Team Ghengis + Rat - 49
Team Asmo - 47

So it looks like Paris may have doen the best job with his draft (or his player are overrated!), limp surprisingly put together a decent team while giving ghe impression that he didn't give a fuck. Despite missing out on conventional heavy hitters, my team also grabbed some good solid players.

Team Zak was hurt by only picking up one 8+ rated player but got some decent mid level players, GKG managed to nab Adren at 5th pick but perhaps didn't follow that up as well as he could and lacks as much depth as other teams.

Ghengis shocked everyone by picking the inactive CW first in the entire draft, Demo was also a questionable choice 2nd as he doesn't show a lot of interest in tournaments, this team has mostly avoided having terrible players though and maybe thats its saving grace. Rat managed to get a pretty strong 3-4 picks and picked up a couple of underrated players IMO, if this team sticks together I think its better than the rating suggests.

Lastly Asmo's team, well being last in the draft didn't help him for sure and Enculator was given a 5 rating so that bumps it down rather unfairly too. While its the lowest rated team it really isn't too bad, whether Myrk can do Trow duty effectively will be a big deal and you don't see these players running over opponents regularly.

i disagree that our team doesn't have depth... PK is a very solid player. Pallidice is pretty underrated, in my opinion. Evil Jake is just rusty... if he continues to be active, he will be pretty decent. Dac will shape up when he plays a bit more... and he is a very competent player.

And paris drastically overrated Kush, so that pretty much brings him even with the 51ers, I think.

I think the draft worked out pretty well... should be some decent competition.

My team has the most well rounded roster, we'll see if that matters against teams with 2-3 heavy hitters and a bunch of scrubs

Regardless of the outcome, I do have to give props to paris for being pretty damn close in his predictions of draft ordering to what actually happened :) Hard to read much into the fact that he scored higher by his own ratings though... just means there is some minor disagreement in there. Did you run the numbers against anyone else's ratings by any chance to see if they matched any of the rest even closer?

To be fair though, the numbers are pretty arbitrary so adding them up isn't the most useful. Would be slightly better for people to have predicted draft order (like adren did IIRC) instead and compare the deltas than assigning arbitrary 0-10 values.

Anyways, should be a fun tourney :)

The numbers are relevant, because having a player rated 8, even if he sucks or doesn't show up, means you can have someone equally rated sub for him.

Sure, but only the (weak, equivalence class) ordering is relevant, which is my point. And the scaling is relevant in the above analysis, which is nonsense.

Still, interesting.

nah i pretty much took asmo's ratings and any changes were +/- 1. his ratings weren't that bad from what i remembered (or at least written under the perspective of true rating rather than troll rating)

people put players into different tiers but at each level there are various inconsistencies separating each player; the closest people will get to 'true' ratings is still, and will always be, speculation. more or less, if someone gave me two peoples names i could tell the difference between them due to wisdom and experience; for some people could generalize in agreement, others would disagree because they just see things differently. its these differences that make or break the precision of an individuals rating.

myth trivia : the first year i wrote TAs was 2005. that year 'east wind' was a new face and his original dub was 'death bastard'. for whatever reasoning i had composed at the mere age of 14, i gave them the same rating at 8/10 or something. maybe 7 or 6. regardless, at the end of the tournament some people had realized this was in fact the same individual; when i had rated both players however, it was long before the identity was known. it's safe to say i'm a observer, but perhaps even a consistently concise one.
