A single berserk reached us yesterday, after having come all the way over the mountains from the city of Willow, fourteen hundred miles away. He delivered to Alric a single package the size of a man's fist, wrapped in rags, and refuses to talk with anyone about events in the West.
Besides the reference to "the fallen" and places such as "the divide" (not to mention, "the machine god") what do you guys think about the myth tie ins?
A an aside, the gameplay looks utterly uninteresting (boring one-dimensional maps indestructible terrain, weapons that look like a mix of UT and America's Army Online, silly magic powers like something out of Bioshock...) and I won't be purchasing this game. Apparently there's still no dual wielding meaning that it's basically Halo: Reach all over again.
Note also the reappearance of the Metaba/D&W PPC revolver featured in Oni artwork...
"The Hive" have the same delta-eye pattern as the P'fhor.
There is a hive creature called a Thrall.
They originally wanted Destiny to be a medieval game, and the notion of the "Last City" and venturing out into "Wild Lands" that have been conquered by "The Dark" are all very myth-ish.
" Destiny" is a reference to the end of Marathon Infinity.
There is concept art of a wolf-creature that looks a lot like a Myrkridia.
The Hive Queen looks like it could have some Shiver references.
The structure on Venus is called "The Citadel" (reference to Marathon 2).
Warlocks.
The leader-guy talking to the guardian in the first trailer has a hood and mask like Alric in TFL.
I'll have to hear more about the exploratory and story aspects before I'll commit to getting it.
