Well pogue, that is still stupid, but at least you are making an admirable attempt to overcome your limitations and think. The territorial boundaries of Britain, Japan, and France over the last two centuries have little to do with Ukrainian nationalism, which was your original concern, and by "centuries" I'd assume you'd mean more than two. But even if you want to argue about these particular countries, and France is a good choice as most historians mark the French Revolution as the birth of nationalism, their national identities were just beginning to crystallize 200 years ago. You are confusing territorial claims with nationhood. Monarchs were not nationals, which is why you get German speaking kings of England etc. As for Japan, it was still feudal & had no centralized government or unified territorial claim at all, so that doesn't help your argument.
Really though, knowing the definition of nation state is elementary high school history... our educational is really failing poor, rural whites like yourself, pogue, more than any other demographic these days it seems.
