for the picks we put in the # of points a team will earn according to the tournament scoring right? (3 points win 1point tie 0 loss)

I was planning on match score, much like the predictions in the MWC thread, I assume the matches will be best 3 out of 5. However, if we want a simple who wins the match, I can change it very easily to just a pick the winner and not worry about score or points.

well the only reason I asked is because if we are going to do the predictions by w-t-l there is no option on the website to choose ties atm.

This seems like something that would be nice to be tied into the same user database as GoS rather than having to re-register and have yet another imperfect mapping of user names. How feasible is that for you guys (to tie into phpbb user tables for instance)? I'm happy to host the site on a subdomain here and give you guys the relevant access.

Up to you. As long as this is just optional fun on the side I don't think it's a big deal, but if you're planning to develop more tournament hosting infrastructure, it'd be nice to have it centralized I think.

I agree it would be nice to have it centralized and will talk to you more about this in private message to see if it is possible.

This was mainly just something I did for fun as I had some free time at work this past week and extra space on my server.

On the topic of how the picks should go, I think I will change it to just pick the winner for the first league and see how it goes and maybe change it for the next tournament, most likely being Drunken's Slugfest. Here are the different scoring options that are available.
  • Pick the winner: Simply pick the winner of each game.
  • Pick the winner with point spread: Pick the winner of each game based on point spread.
  • Score differential: Pick the score of each game and get points for correct score differential and winner.
  • Pick the winner with tie-breaker: Pick the winner of each game and pick the score for the last game to break weekly ties.
  • Pick the winner with a confidence score: Simply pick the winner of each game and assign a confidence point value. Assign each game below a value starting at 1 and ending with the number of games that week. Each number must be used once and only once. Give a 1 to the game you are least confident about and the maximum value to the game you expect to be a blowout. If you win the game, you get the points.
