Week 7 (DE4) Power Rankings
Power Rankings DE4
We're closing down to the end of the tournament. We only have 7 teams left. We'll take a look at the eliminated teams, and then move onto the ones who are still alive.
#10 TCOX
Who'd have thunk it. This week, and probably this entire tournaments weakest team is one that has been to the finals and won the finals of MWC's past in multiple seasons. Of course this wasn't the traditional TCOX, lead by Cave, but Gamer's attempt at putting together a team built around tcox associated players. Gamer seemed to have more interest in playing than any other player on his team, and since being eliminated has jumped ship to a team that is still alive. It was sad to see TCOX have attendence issues all tournament, had I not been working so much I would have gladly played and subsituted for them! The rosters staying open gives a few of these guys a chance to jump ship, but most of them already have long before the scuttle. The original core of Tcox lost interest in competitive myth long ago, I salute them for attempting to get some games in and for memorable moments over the years.
Final Record:
9 Wins, 11 losses
(without forfeits)
9 Wins, 21 losses.
(with forfeits)
Last Match: Forfeit to The Blades (Last Match played, 4-1 win over DR in DE1)
Last Week: #7 (-3)
Final Basketball Team Translation: Los Angeles Lakers, 2012-2013
#9 Devils Rejects
DR has been falling apart since the beginning of the tournament and most of their players have flocked to other teams. Their last showings in the tournament were mostly rabble subsitutes lead by Funky. This is another team that would have had a better turnout with better attendence, but have ended up to be one of the first teams eliminated. DR takes the #9 spot over TCOX, due to a better record but when all is said and done I believe the players who played on DR will remember this MWC more in regards to their new team than this abandoned turtle shell. Even though TCOX beat DR in the top bracket, DR had more heart and power by the end of this tournament, rightfully giving them the #9 spot in the PRs.
Final Record: 10 wins, 14 losses, 1 tie.
Last Match: 3-1-1 loss to ULMS
Last Week: #9 (no change)
Final Basketball Team Translation: Cleveland Cavaliers 2012-2013
#8 ULMS
ULMS had a nice run this mwc and definately looked stronger than years past. It's kinda of interesting to note that while years ago they would just get the piss kicked out of them, they have steadily been improving (most notably killerking) and have also gained strength through recruiting some vetran free agents. Their tournament run has come to an end however, in a loss to DEER in a match that probably would have been closer if there wasn't so much bitter arguing over subsitutes in the match. ULMS simply never had enough firepower to make it far in this tournament, but played in 7 matches and were eliminated with a positive record of 16 wins, 14 losses and 5 ties, just shy of the .500% mark with a .47% win percentage. 5 ties? That's a lot of close games!
Final Record: 16 Wins, 14 losses, 5 ties.
Last Match: 3-1-1 loss to DEER
Last Week: #7 (-1)
Final Basketball Team Translation: Washington Wizards, 2008
#7 The Blades
Who'da thunk it. The Blades are currently still alive and well, they managed to get a forfeit out of Tcox. However this weekend is looking to be their last, as they play WTC in the bottom bracket. The victory from forfeit bodes well for them, increasing their power ranking. They also have an interesting condition in regards to sub rules unlike any other team : any player can play for them without permission from the opposing team. This may cause problems for WTC, especially with The Blades also picking up a few new heads. Their best bet is to recruit the best subs possible at 8:30 am on Sunday in order to upset WTC.
Current Record: 2 wins, 16 losses, 2 ties or 7 wins, 16 losses, 2 ties including forfeit wins
Last Week: #10 (+3)
Last Match: Forfeit Win over Tcox (Last Played, 1-1-3 loss to ULMS)
Current Basketball Team Translation: Charolette Bobcats, 2009-2010; that year they got in the playoffs
The Blades are having fun in their first MWC, ever.
#6 Deer
Deer has had a pretty good MWC thus far. They currently have an evened out record instead of a losing one, and also seem to play better when they have their entire roster show up. Agents knocked em into the bottom bracket hard, but it was only 2 deer with 4 subs. When DEER played ULMS they had a good showing from their roster and won the fairly even match between the two teams. This weekend they play TMNS which will definately be a tough match. A little trickery might steal them some wins, but if they try to just outplay TMNS or BC them they are going to get womped without knowing what hit them (like a deer on a highway kissing an 18 wheeler).
Current Record: 12 wins, 12 losses, 1 tie.
Last week: #6 (no change)
Last Match: 3-1-1 Victory over ULMS.
Current Basketball Team Translation: Portland Trailblazers, 2012-2013
Drunken DEER is actually that tall black guy, better known as J.J. Hickson.
#5 WTC
WTC takes the number five spot in the power rankings, after losing to TMNT they pretty much had a BYE week last week due to the blades being unable to play at normal MWC Sunday time. This weekend they will be very busy, first they must show up to beat blades at 8:30 am, then play ZOMG at 2pm, followed up by playing the winner of TMNS and DEER if they win. WTC has been a delight to watch play thus far, and although they were having chemistry and attendence issues, have really molded together a group of tough-minded and thick skulled players. While they will most likely be eliminated this weekend, stranger things have happened.
Current Record: 10 wins, 10 losses.
Last Week: #4 (-1)
Last Match: 4-1 Loss to TMNT
Current Basketball Team Translation: Seattle Supersonics, 1995-1996
The Supersonics really never had a chance against the 72-10 96' Bulls. Here, rawr goes in for a kiss on guttermouth's lips.
#4 ZOMG
ZOMG might have MWC's MVP of the year. Ghengis, the noblesteed, has been all over the place this summer. He has subsituted for a variety of teams and is ZOMG's main captain and best player. He's sported 18 wins to 15 losses and 3 ties, while killing 412 units with a 1.187 k-d ratio. while his damage ratio is suffering due to having the responsibility of being a heavy hitter and captain combination, Ghengis has been on fire and has been unleashing a wave of hell for all opponents looking to face him. There is a small chance anyone will pass Ghengis' current tournament record of 412 kills, as Xmas just got eliminated at 374 (or did he jump ship? heh). ZOMG will most likely play WTC, and then play TMNS which should be a great bottom bracket semi-finals match. I have been really impressed with ZOMG's roster and team chemistry, even though they took a tough loss to agents they played well, respectively, and made agents earn their win. I heard homer got laid too, good job Homer. Honkey, you should stop giving it up so easy. This looks like the end of their road, unless they can manage to outmatch TMNS (as well as WTC) when the time comes.
Current Record: 13 Wins, 10 losses, 2 ties
Last Week: #3 (-1)
Last Match: 4-0-1 Loss to Agents
Current Basketball Team Translation: Detroit Pistons, 2003-2004
Phil Jackson who coached the Lakers in the finals against the Pistons in 2004 had trouble figuring out who their most valuable player was, but ZOMG makes it quite clear. Ghengis is their Chauncy Billups, and it's a tossup of who would make a better Rasheed Wallace between honkey and homer.
#3 TMNT
A close victory over TMNS, while relying on a key player of their next opponent to subsitute for them, is not the usual smash-and-obliterate style you see from GKG lead teams. While TMNT still has a chance to be top bracket champions, there is now a clear difference between them and the other of the top 3 teams in this tournament. TMNT will not be able to match up, player for player, against TMNS or Agents, and will need to rely on focus and strategy in order to win their remaining matches. GKG has been doing all of the dirty work for TMNT when they are unable to rely on subsitute players, but has also been captaining, with 252 kills. When EW has shown up he has done well, but it is clear that in the coming rounds he will be relied on for big roles and big moves if GKG doesn't want himself doing it. Not having Arz available will hurt them this weekend, while last weekend they benefitted greatly from it. Perhaps they will ask someone like Lizard King, who's been banging heads with 275 kills (1.833) to legally subsitute his position.
Current Record: 14 Wins, 11 Losses, 1 Tie
Last Week: #1 (-2)
Last Match: 3-2-1 Win over TMNS
Current Basketball Team Translation: Cleveland Cavaliers, 2008
Everyone knows GKG is the Lebron James of myth, seeing as how he showed up as a good player after all the real competition left (1980s, Jordan and Hakeem in the 1990s).
#2 TMNS
A close loss to TMNT, TMNS is clearly stronger when their entire roster is present. Last week they were missing their 3 most important players, and it cost them a trip to the bottom bracket. This is when things get sticky, as adren has a tendency to elope with his girlfriend as the summer draws to an end and any more absenses from him will be a gaping wound for TMNS. While TMNS did lose to TMNT, I am under the impression their morale is still fairly high and this weekend will be a great bounce-back for them. If they weren't hungry before, they certainly are now after losing such a close match. Not to mention a 5 win 5 loss 1 tie record to TMNT has the community on its heels for the rematch of the century. I can't remember the last time two teams played each other three times in a 2team tournament, but the competition between these two teams has been heatin up and has opened my eyes in interest for the conclusion of their personal saga. If agents loses this weekend, it may be more difficult for TMNS to get their rematch; and if they lose to zomg/wtc/deer it won't happen at all. Yet more likely than not, TMNS will emerge alive and well from the Bottom Bracket this weekend on their way to the finals.
Current Record: 12 wins, 8 losses, 1 tie (17 wins if forefeit included)
Last Week: #2 (no change)
Last Match: 3-2-1 Loss to TMNT
Current Basketball Team Translation: Chicago Bulls, 2011-2013 via Derrick Rose injury years
Adren and Tirri missing important matches? This is like the Bulls losing Derrick Rose in the first round of the 2012 NBA playoffs after having a better record than the Miami Heat during the Season.
#1 Agents
Agents takes the #1 power ranking spot this week. They haven't lost a single game since their lackluster QR performance against WTC (and the entire DE), and seem to have really gotten their act together since and/or because of that match. The only other player in contention for this years MVP against Ghengis, would be Mr Samuel Corbis Jeremy Smith. He has torn through pretty much everything he's faced this tournament and he probably won TMNT their match against TMNS while subsituting. Besides having an elite heavy hitting package in sam, agents also has one of the most well rounded rosters of the tournament. Player for player, Agents could be considered the young gun squad of this tournament in comparison to the age-old vetran players on TMNS. If there is any weakness of agents it would be that they don't prioritize focus or making the best decisions against teams they value to be much weaker, but seeing as how they are in the Top Bracket Finals they will most likely not encounter those conditions ever again. Will Agents take the #1 spot for the rest of the tournament? Time will tell. The TMNT-Agents rematch has been something these teams have been waiting for since QR1, and now the pendulum has swung long enough for opportunity to grace the desired matchup of the week.
Current Record: 16 wins, 8 losses, 1 tie.
Last Week: #5 (+4)
Last Match: 4-0-1 Win over ZOMG
Current Basketball Team Translation: San Antonio Spurs, 2004-2005
Who's gunna be the Robert Horry of Agents? I'm excited to find out.

Under that Logic ZOMG beat TMNT so is ZOMG now better than TMNS on paper and full strength? But wait a minute AGENTS beat ZOMG, so clearly Agents must be better than zomg AND tmns, but wait, TMNS beat AGENTS who beat ZOMG who beat TMNT.... zomg beat tmnt in a qr match when we were screwing around, and sure enough tmnt is in the top bracket and you'll probably be eliminated by tmns before we ever play you again. zomg might stand a chance of advancing if they make you sit every game though
