Would anyone be interested in an Archer Tourney? I've had a few people suggest it on the Bowmen Grounds 1v1 plug. BTW I didnt steal these ideas from GKG but I was thinking of a similar tourney set up as he is doing for his 1v1 tourney. I had even thought about asking PunkUser if giving the winner an icon with their name would be possible. (Was actually an idea I suggested yrs ago on PlayMyth. Icons for people that were number 1 in gametypes etc.)
If there is interest I would offer prize money. Something like 50$ total as like gift certificates or whatever on Amazon (if thats possible and available to everyone) 1st=$20 2nd=$15 3rd=$10 4th=$5.
First round would be similar to how GKG did his 1v1 tourney. Each Player vs 3 different Players whoever. After that I would go through the list and compare wins and loses and who had what. There would be no weight added for who you vs since I think that threat assessments or just assuming the better Players are also going to be the best with Archers may not be accurate. So just 1 point for each win in round 1. Points for the next round would depend on who you vs.
Example: Players A B C D
First round each Player is worth 1 point. So 1 point for a win. Each match would just be 2 of 3 wins. Maybe more for the later rounds and finals with the addition of win by 2.
A vs B = A Wins
A vs C = C wins
A vs D = A wins
B vs A = A wins
B vs C = C wins
B vs D = B wins
C vs A = C wins
C vs B = C wins
C vs D = C wins
D vs A = A wins
D vs B = B wins
D vs C = C wins
etc
End of round 1 Points: A=2 B=1 C=3 D =0 E=2. You would need at least 1 point to move on. 2nd round Players would be paired up highest points vs lowest. You would get points based on how many Points your opponent had (was worth). With this example 2nd round would be A vs E and B vs C. If E wins he gets the 2 points from A so E is now worth 4 points. If C wins he gets the 1 point from B. C is now worth 4 points. 3rd round would be E vs C and continue as normal elimination brackets.
Anyway we could find out who the best Archers are with this and maybe the Top Archer could get an icon with their name.

theres a map i have called turc2 where you could do any number of 1v1s with any units. every unit is covered under this map. its alot of fun

Played bowmen grounds a few times just now. got 2 games in a row with no losses on leg after a few tries.
Pretty neat plugin, main problem is the AI targets randomly all your guys separately every other volley. This is something not even human players can do, as they cant click 10 of their own archers and tell them each to attack a different enemy bowmen each volley.
I would like to see a plugin like this where like every 10 seconds a pus ghol runs at you and tries to take out your dorf and you get like 5 dorfs total given to the player 1 at a time as they die. a souless version just like this archer version.
A version with a dorf and you try to see how many archers you can take out in a linear fashion, like the further the dorf advances the more archers he has to kill. starting with 1, then 2, then 3 archers and so on. ALso a version where you have a pus ghol and you see how many archers you can pus.
same thing as dorf, but maybe start with 3 or 4 archers to puss. Would be cool training maps for new players to learn much required multiplayer skills and for old vets to polish their skills or shake off rust. Maybe sam. you are making what could turn into the new myth Tutorial! Or an advance tutorial series.

Actually Players can target all of the enemy units the same as the AI does with gesture click. That can be a little slower though. One reason I think that Arcs should be able to multi-target. It only makes sense anyway for realism.
Can you post some films for me? I am going to do an improved version I just want to get more films to see how Players fight. One thing I have seen in films of people beating the AI is they stand far back or to the side just out of range or the AI arcs then move in to shoot then back out. The AI arcs dont always move closer in to attack. If you want to use it for practicing just stay closer to the enemy Arcs. Basically stay inside the darker circle. You can also not shoot back and just see how long you can dodge arrows. You can also work on different attacking techniques.

I was well within their range the 2 games I had no losses on leg. The enemy has longer range, as when I sat back in formation, my archers would not auto, yet the enemy would shoot a few arrows at me. You cant really do the attack random targets in game, because if anything is closer then the enemy archers, all yours will auto target that, often a dodging lone warrior or ghol or stygian placed in front to draw fire.
But your current version is good for training of archers duels, so if I was you, I would start making these kinds of maps for other units like I mentioned. Dorf vs archers and such.
