Some people argue that you can't put the value on something that's not tangible, but our subjective ideals of how a player is good at the game is not tangible either. so really while grim will have the bias of not being around, asmo would have the bias of being asmo, and I wwill have my own biases (in regards to averaging our scores together and using the salary cap by that method), I think we shouldn't really use this "Cap System" to restrict teams from having players or not. the last 2 tournaments required players to be randomly placed on teams. Or at least, fairly placed and substitutes were allowed. In MWC it can be tricky to respect tradition and uphold with new concepts looking to be introduced, especially without a system to fall back on that is reliable. that is why i think the ratings of the TOs of the last 3 2team tournaments are, for what they are, pretty fair, and they may be implemented into the cup in some other way. But we will not be using a Salary Cap to restrict teams. I recommend a dedicated player from the community to host a follow up tournament introducing the Salary Cap, that should only last about a month following MWC.
MWC is traditionally free, it is free will and free in spirit. you don't have to show up, you don't have to play well. putting restrictions on team rosters in regards to skill defeats the cause and purpose in mwc.
It becomes a mechanical nightmare for all, just as how a draft tournament is run.
Here's some color for you:
MWC - > I'm not going to try to bend people against their free will.
People will make teams for MWC, but rosters are very important here. I think the fair way to do this is with small rosters. the last draft tournament saw smaller roters, the first one did not. it will make the substitute system effective isntead of being disregarded completely.
people like tradition, and i don't think there should be any restrictions on rosters except for the traditional restriction. the player cap limit. we need to get more teams and players true, but the player cap limit is what is important and valued in its influence, year after year.
you can try to further influence player cap limit by way of salary cap limitations, but mwc a traditional tournament and that should not be done. We have the time following MWC to try that out, as we did last year with the draft tournament.
the polls in the 'free for all' forum will be taken seriously as it requires someone with a brain to actually reach them and comprehend the questions surveyed.
another point i'd like to make:
you shouldn't need a 500$ wager blah blah to be getting people interested or involved again in mwc or myth itself. myth has always been a community thing and while people shy away after mwc season they often return in the summer. Get active and start promoting myth, try to find new people to play with out of respect for the game, not for some stupid sum of cash.
I give my deepest gratitude to anyone who does this out of their own free will as well.
Player cap is set to 9 for the Qualifying Rounds. It would be 8, or even 7, but grim had already started collecting registrations and I'm not going to force teams to drop a player only to add them later etc.
Rules and other stuff to be published next week after I finish my finals. Keep the word spreading.

Re: In regards to the Salary Cap for MWC
I hear ya paris, and though I support a salary cap for next year. I think this year mwc should remain free of spirit as you have said this year.
