If you actually have any new unread ones it'll show up as a big bar on the main forum page so it's not as if you need to go looking there to "check"...

There's no way I'm doing custom modifications to the abomination that is phpbb and making it even harder to merge updates man...

The forum is here as a courtesy and registration portal - it was never really meant to be the main hub of myth activity. If/when the forums here are insufficient to that end, I highly encourage folks to move elsewhere as I don't have the time to devote to that on top of managing the metaserver.
