What are people doing in the lobby?

So I often see 5-10 players in a room lobby on GoS running "M2", but they're not chatting, they're not playing...what is it that they're doing there?

sitting afk... has always been the case. at the very least, it makes the server LOOK populated... which is never a bad thing.

Interesting. Hah, so to retain new players that try Myth, GoS should have a bunch of dummy names loitering in the lobby at all times?

On the contrary Adren, having a bunch of people that are in fact AFK indefinitely, is not a good thing. People host a game...then even though people are outside, nobody joins. People wonder WTF?! If people try to talk to any of them, they get no response. If people are idle for 1 hour, they should get grayed out and or have an "AFK" next to their name. Knowing who is actually in the lobby and willing/able to play, is of much greater benefit then fooling people into thinking there are more people online then there really is.
When AFK grayed out people should still get messages from others and be able to read the chat log in lobby and stuff.
I have mentioned this before. And now that I have mentioned it a 3rd or 4th time, I bet punk has added it to the top of his priorities list.

I typically go back out into the room lobby, type "hi", if no one replies, I assume they are all AFK. A 1 hour timer doesn't seem useful to me. If you were active 30 or 45 min. ago, that's of no value to me. I'm not waiting around checking the lobby for the next 30 minutes in the hope that you'll be active again "soon". If there were going to be an indicator at all, I'd want it to be 5-10min max. If I know you were *recently* active, then I might camp and check the chat frequently for the next 5-10 min. in hopes you'll be back "soon".
What all this really means is that Myth is CRYING OUT for a chat chime when there's a post. Then everyone can be afk until someone's talking about something useful...like hosting a game! And then you'll hear, know, and come back. See this thread here and add your voice to it:

Alternatively, everyone has to get in the habit of running a 3rd party voice chat system, to be used in lobbies, but also in-game. See this thread here:

What is USA-centric about wondering why so many people wander away from a game for so long while leaving themselves in-game? Is the rest of the world ADHD?
Obviously they went away for...whatever reason they felt like. It just seems odd that so many are afk so often, for so long. Do they forget they were in Myth? Is there a reason it's good to leave yourself afk in Myth? Inquiring minds want to know

Welcome to Myth. Some people will stay afk for hours, even days and check out the chat (Cu, Zak).

not saying hi in the lobby has a lot to do with personality
