Universomyth's QR retrospective

Post by Universomyth »

With DE approaching, Universomyth has played ten games in two matches for the Legendary Heterosexuals against teams 7L and NP.

So far, Universomyth feels the tournament is providing an interesting challenge, although some of the maps are picks Universomyth considers to be silly. Examples include the exploding deer on that QR1 map, the ridiculous pavement fight on 19th hole, the spontaneously restarting mesh from QR2 and the Bushido map that was dropped at the last second when it was revealed to be unbalanced. In regard to this aspect of the tournament so far, Universomyth feels more traditional picks might have been more interesting and probably better suited to actually calibrating the team skills. Crazy units like jman acolytes, skeletons, stygs that die when healed, heron mystics and others were very silly and made some parts of QR a broken shit show which made Universomyth wonder what the TOs were smoking when they selected the maps.

Universomyth enjoyed both matches against 7L and NP, although it should be noted Universomyth's team was habitually undermanned and required substitutes, despite substitutes not technically being allowed in the tournament but whatever. Universomyth is concerned about attendance which of course is always a bit of an issue with older players and the ultra competitive environment which might scare off less competent or new players.

On that note, however, Universomyth is excited to see several legitimately new players alongside the legions of dummy accounts, as well as Legendary veterans from yore, a respectable mix that seems to indicate the same still has some life in its 20th year. In regard to the forthcoming DE, Universomyth is looking forward to playing against some of the others teams in the tournament, although us expecting to be replaying NP due to seeding which might be a bit unfortunate since Legendary Heteros were just cleaned up by that same team. We'll see what happens here.

Universomyth is pleased with the MWC website, which, although it needs some more content (as well as this forum) has a unique TA system that Universomyth has been enjoying using, giving players exceptionally low ball scores to try to reduce ball inflation in 2018. Universomyth encourages players not registered to register, so that more utility can be gotten out of the website, and Universomyth encourages content creators (except LSO of course) to keep producing material and updating TAs so that there's more meta to explore.

Universomyth is extremely pleased with the game reviews, twitch casts, and myth casts, which have proliferated at an unprecedented rate and really opened up the game to new and old players alike. Universomyth is enjoying being a regular feature of conversation for Universomyth's often hillarious but undeniably committed playmaking.

Universomyth is displeased with off-tournament games which are totally dominated by yawn inducing mazz playing which Universomyth considers a vaguely subhuman activity that wastes time.

On balance, Universomyth is pleased with the tournament so far, despite some modest reservations about turn out, map selection in particular, and mazz playing faggots, but otherwise is looking forward to more content and competitive games going forward.

Its not my fault you are terrible at the game.

This would be a dramatic improvement over Mazz.

Good to know, thanks for clarifying. I thought it was your fault!

Imagine being LSO and going around complaining about how people play a 20 year old game that has zero monetary stake, for no reason whatsoever besides a delusional sense of self-aggrandizement. I know it's not really LSO fault, since he learned this reprehensible and childish behaviour from the community itself, an unfortunate indictment of the community's ongoing short-sightedness.
