Should the community pick MWC maps?

A single berserk reached us yesterday, after having come all the way over the mountains from the city of Willow, fourteen hundred miles away. He delivered to Alric a single package the size of a man's fist, wrapped in rags, and refuses to talk with anyone about events in the West.

Should the players choose the maps in MWC?

Should the community pick MWC maps?

Post by Zak »

So we have an interesting set of maps/gametypes this MWC. Personally, I'm all for introducing new maps and choosing unusual gametypes for existing maps, as long as it doesn't make the game less fun.

However TOs have been notoriously defensive when their decisions come under the scrutiny (every TO, not singling out anyone here). However we as players want a say in what maps we play!

I have a problem with the question itself... I don't think the PLAYERS should pick the maps, per se. I am fine with the TO picking maps, but it would be nice if the community had some say in the process... like perhaps the TO polls the community with a list of maps, or asks for suggestions from known community members before deciding on maps.

All in all, I think this year's maps are pretty decent... but there are a few questionable picks, and some standard favorites missing.

Obviously direct democracy isn't what I meant. It would take months for a community to hand pick each map. I'm just saying we should have the right to veto maps we don't want, and choose replacements we would prefer.

Some notable maps missing: creep, grilling grounds, lichen light, desert between your ears, hvergelmir light, calm before the storm, frozen cloudspine, clash/cracks, smells, shuffle dark, drowned empire, zodiac, and the four leaved fen.

Some maps listed more than once are Mockingbird (listed 3 times), Grave Reason (light listed twice), Keep, divide/dark canyon (listed 3 times), barbarian valley (listed 3 times), tallow abbey, poison holiday, and tamaerlin (dark mesh twice!).

If we're really interested in variety, we should actually be incorporating MORE classics.
