Celtic Myth

I know the Myth series is based on Celtic Mythology but I guess I didn't realize just how close it was.
I don't know how I have gone so many years without coming across these titles:

The Tain - From the Irish epic Tain Bo Cuailnge, translated by Thomas Kinsella
Cuchulain of Muirthemne by Lady Gregory.

I just picked them up so haven't read them yet, but I was curious if there have been any in-depth studies (half-assed articles) about the links between the game and the actual Mythology or if any of you know of books I should be looking into on the subject.

I think it's also inspired from The black company.

The legendary hero Connacht shares a name with the Kingdom of Connachta, an early medieval Irish Kingdom.
