Structure of DRAFT

Post by limp »

i think it would be cool to extend the draft tournament in this way:

Playoffs Round 1:

1st vs 4th place team, 4th place team has to win match and sudden death by 2 to advance, 1st place only needs to win first match

2nd vs 3rd place team, 3rd place team has to win match and sudden death by 2 games to advance, 2nd place only needs to win first match

Playoffs Round 2: 7 game finals

1 more week plz

Currently its what, finals on September 6? I presume it's going to be hard enough to get people to commit next weekend let alone when actual school / work starts up in September. Can we afford to push it back to September 13? The dark times are near at hand, gentlemen.

I don't think asmo will adapt to this idea as it prevents an EZ finals appearance for his squad, winning those draft tournament finals is all the rage these days
He is simply too predictable

i just don't think its doing anyone any justice by electing only finalists after just 3 weeks of play. more matches about it between what should be ideally balanced teams would make for a more exciting, attended, and interesting tournament.

I'm out of town the 13th so it's probably not happening.

Can't the other teams just agree to show up and play a match?

Player exclusion is negatively correlated with player interest for players excluded, whether or not one thinks correlations are relative to our activities, this remains fact.

Theoretically in limps scenario if Asmo's team was eliminated by the 13th it would be irrelevant if he was present or not, participant bias. When I signed up to participate I considered the availability for a maximum of 4 consecutive Sundays after noon.

Resolution:
best of 3 then best of 5 on a (sun)day of the weekend of 8/9 <- best chance to maximize player potential investment, opens door for a 4th vs 3rd match while the finals are played on the same maps!
if sat and sun, could run a best of 5/7 and best of 7

This decision would have to be made clear sooner rather than later but I predict a no because god forbid anyone would want to play myth outside of a myth tournament finals
