certain players on sunday, which is MWC day basically, is terrible.
Love you PunkUser but fix your broken server

The server itself was fine - stayed up the whole time. Apparently there was a network issue in SFO though that caused accessibility problems:

Sorry for the inconvenience, and poor timing of course, but these sorts of things happen everywhere and are not really avoidable.

Just to play devil's advocate: this pretty much never happened on Marius - ever.
Not being able to handle what, 60 players? On the day that MWC has always taken place, is unacceptable.
Statistics are cool, but at the cost of the server's reliability? No thanks.

Simply not true, I've been DC'd on Marius lots of times and so has everyone else. In fact a lot of people can't even stay connected for more than a few hours to any Myth metaserver. It happens everywhere, on everything on the internet. It's slightly more disruptive to be DC'd at GoS simply because you lose any ongoing films/stats, but the same would be true at MariusNet it if supported such features. The only solution is transparent redundancy, and that's not currently possible with Myth metaservers due to the way that the client works (stateful connections).

limp, at least read what I wrote before complaining please. There was no issue with the server itself - it can easily "handle" far more than what we throw at it and has been running solid since the server move. The problem was basically a router between two ISP's networks and the traffic
did migrate around the issue automatically. Unfortunately the Myth client drops connections and does not automatically re-establish in certain cases like that. I don't expect you to understand the details, but you could at least avoid pointing fingers without any idea how stuff works.
So again, yeah it sucks and the timing was bad, but the downtime was both fairly minimal and unavoidable without an overhaul of Myth's networking code. Has zero to do with the server itself which has yet to crash a single time.

This has never happened on MWC match sunday before
When it happened both the GoS website and server were down for me.
And now I can access the website but can't join the server via myth

Yeah, sucky timing, what can I say. It's unrelated to the load.

Yes, it's the same as MariusNet - they are both run on the same server on different ports.

You can add saved films to the server/tournament function, right?

What do you mean? Seems all the games are there...
http://games.gateofstorms.net/tournamen ... rounds/277
Server seems to have been up the whole time and no network issues reported, so not sure what you noticed. Could you point me at the exact time of the supposed downtime so I can go check more logs?
But yeah I dunno, on the surface I don't see any issues either now or yesterday.

Something was definitely wrong, at least in a 30-minute window around 3pm est. I couldn't access the game films at all. I wish I had screenshot the page that came up. It wasn't a 404.

Oh you mean the games.gateofstorms.net part of the site? Yeah that occasionally goes down due to some bugs in Rails/Ruby apparently and needs a web server restart, but that doesn't affect anything else. Games are still being recorded, etc. you just can't go to that part of the site.
Should get fixed soon in any case. I'll check if there's an update for it.
