The hosting provider for Gate of Storms is going to be updating the operating system on the server tomorrow at ~11am PST, so there will be an hour or two of downtime (web site and metaserver). I considered providing a backup server in the meantime but considering there are no scheduled tournament games tomorrow, it's a holiday in Canada and everyone would have to re-point to the new IP for just an hour or two, it seems like more trouble than it's worth.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but I don't anticipate any trouble bringing stuff back up once the operating system is upgraded. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Just a quick update. The guy who does the games.gateofstorms.net web page is busy tomorrow so that might remain down for a day or two after the OS update since I'm not sure how to duplicate his setup. Metaserver will work though and games will continue to be recorded, you just won't be able to view the stats there, etc.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience. This OS update was not our choice, but it'll probably make things more stable in the long run.

Yeah I'm looking into alternatives. It's a PITA to have to move stuff instead of spending time improving the metaserver itself, but this is getting ridiculous.

It's back up.

Ok guys just an update. While everything is back up and running for now, I'm not happy with the recent downtime and lack of communication from my current host. Thus I'm planning to switch hosts and have started setting this up to that end.

At some point this will likely mean a few hours of downtime while DNS changes propagate, etc. but I'll give you the heads up in advance and try to plan it for as least disruptive time as possible. I do apologize in advance, but I think you guys will agree it's better in the long run to get onto a more stable host.

Lol nah. I mean it'll probably run just fine on this site anyways as most of the downtime was due to them fiddling with upgrades. I just won't accept "fine" for you guys and want it to be "great" instead

Sigh, restarted again.

Good news is I'm 90% setting everything up on the new host. I'll be throwing the switch to move everything over probably on Monday, after which stuff should be more stable.

Again, I apologize for the issues on this host - unfortunately it's all on their end and the only thing I can do is bitch (which I have been) and ultimately leave (which I am)
