King of the Map and new unit trades

A single berserk reached us yesterday, after having come all the way over the mountains from the city of Willow, fourteen hundred miles away. He delivered to Alric a single package the size of a man's fist, wrapped in rags, and refuses to talk with anyone about events in the West.

King of the Map and new unit trades

Post by Zak »

I wanted to go back over commonly used MWC maps and make new trades for them, compiling them all into one map pack.

I figured doing so would also allow me to customize the flags for king of the map, on each map, in a way that appeals to competitive mythers.

So post your ideas here for new unit trades of current maps, and cool ways to place the KOTM flags!

I'm also interested in making a 1v1 or small 2 team map pack, using ffa maps.

I'm noticing a lot of ffa maps (in the ZAKPAK) result in campy games on 2 team. I'd like to fix that issue and appeal to small team gamers.

The biggest issue I've run into with 1v1 and FFA and KOTM is that there are just way too many terries flags on most maps, because they try place ~2 or more per "start" on the map. Since KOTM doesn't have the elimination rules if you hold no flags, there's no need to have so many, even for FFA and definitely not for 1v1. For 1v1 probably 2-3 flags is plenty unless you want to really start to separate the men from the boys in terms of multitasking ;)

For 2t I think a wider range of number of flags is acceptable. Even Empire (27 flags IIRC) is not unreasonable as long as you have at least 5v5 or so, but 6 flag games also work well. One thing you could do to make it more interesting is to have more sets with odd numbers of flags so that one team is always under some pressure.
