RECAP
The tournament increased its depth in Week Three. Fundamental lag issues and the disappearance of several core players scaled things back, but also provided a stellar opportunity for tactical evolution in a narrower way. The tournament advanced despite the exigent limitations, passing several notable milestones. Several new players joined the tournament, boosting the contributing player count to a high of 11.
Argos TGP staked his claim to tournament MVP, crossing the 350 dmg + threshold on the intense Game Twelve, scoring an impressive 8 points, equal to victories in as many normal games otherwise. Aided by zero ping,
STONEWALL continued the devastation, routinely inflicting 150 pts of damage a game.
Renwood SD 2018 retained his elevated position in the rankings, putting out impressive numbers on games Two, Eight and Twelve, easily captaining his way to a contender spot in the critical second place position.
ndrwgn -ww2- demonstrated why he is not only an asset in team games but also a dangerous play-maker, averaging 100+ damage on each outing. New-comer
William Wallace gave
Kryptos a run for his money - however, the disappearance of
NE Patriots and
oogaBooga ensured that Kryptos was able to build off his strong Week Two performance, easily placing himself within striking distance of the top slots.
This week was particularly notable for the increase in core competency. Players routinely evolved complicated maneuvers, ranging from cavalry rear-actions and artillery cannonades to bayonet charges and schwerpunkt concentrations. Men were literally blown to pieces and cut to shreds. The focus on small unit activity produced dividends when maps were scaled up towards the four hour mark. The result was series of notably intense battles such as the 3 vs 3 North vs South battle royale, or the last man standing unreinforced cauldron firefight that emerged on Rappahannock.
