psychopaths in online games

A single berserk reached us yesterday, after having come all the way over the mountains from the city of Willow, fourteen hundred miles away. He delivered to Alric a single package the size of a man's fist, wrapped in rags, and refuses to talk with anyone about events in the West.

Three best zero-sum FPS I've played. WW2:Online, America's Army Online (AAO), Armed Assault: Sahrani Life

We can get into the deep psychological issues inherent in such violent simulations. I think that issue is important. My years of experience playing WW2:Online, AAO and Op Flash probably convinced me that I should become a pacifist. Having fought on countless virtual battlefields in white knuckle intense gunfights watching my closest friends betray and team kill each-other has surely had an impact on my development.

As we know that there is no real difference between video game simulacra and "real life" simulacra (ie, current culture) I think it's reasonable to say that playing in a virtual battlespace is not very different from conflict in a real battlespace. In the best simulations I've played in political, ethical and moral considerations always complemented the tactical environment, as they would in "reality". I know examples of soldiers who still play military simulations and less realistic video games because it reminds or disassociates them of their battlefield experiences. Furthermore, war "games" have been important aspects of military and political thought for well over a hundred years.

I am afraid for some people to find out my true identity and then start harassing me in real life. That is why Myth Community on Facebook is so scary for me. Jahral TOAD is just an 8 hour drive from me and shadow seems like the kind of person who could go postal at one point.

Shadow's Russian and lives in St. Petersburg. So, if he goes postal he'll just kill fetal alcohol syndrome Cossacks like himself. You're fine.

I wish there were more games that emphasized the cooperative component that made Myth unique. I imagine it's pretty frustrating for higher tier players, but for many of the "coop" types, it, more than the competitive aspect, was what kept us coming back. No re-spawning deemphasizes individual initiative and encourages effective team planning and communication. Other games certainly have that also, but they're typically more forgiving of mistakes. Myth is in a league all its own in that regard.

I heard about this guy once who used to play for ten years straight the same single player map online who thought plugins were viruses and fully supported Sarah Palin.

Wwo don't you know? Rust is all about being psychopathic. Just ask flatline, rab or enc.

p.s. i'm not sure if they can show up that often for xmas but they were somewhat interested. except maybe rab, who isn't interested in anything, ever.

I think, in this community, the problem is not so much psychopathy as it is common cruelty combined with a lack of a sense of propriety.

Psychopaths are humanity's most effective mean of calling itself out.
