Bad news :(
It turns out both of my laptops were stolen from my car one recent evening. This essentially means that I will be unable to upload casts to YouTube this year, or even play myth at all! Sorry for the bad news but I felt you all should know. I would have liked to have covered some TWS as well (and maybe a couple other competitions ) but sadly that just doesn't seem possible at this time. How was TWS this year anyway?
wishing you all the best, and luck to all participating this year

Neither was insured to my knowledge. The car window was, however.

I'm not too worried about 'incriminating' info or anything like that. It's more frustrating to lose what have been my workspaces for the past years. Oh well, out with the old in with the new! Trying to tangle with this in as zen a way as is possible.
Re: Bad news :(
Fuck bro. Nothing but computer problems this spring. First, due to a faulty battery, my laptop hardrive crashes and has to be reformatted (losing some data, luckily I backed everything up twice) ($200s). Then my desktop logicboard melts and has to be replaced (still waiting for the parts)($800).
Sorry to hear that Kirk stoled your laptops and broke your car windows! I think this will go down in myth history along with Paris' home invasion Xbox theft from 2009.

This is bad news?

Dropbox, yo. Nothing I work on isn't autosaved to the cloud every 5 minutes.
Re: Bad news :(
Do you have homeowners/renters insurance? These often cover personal items stolen from your car. However, something as valuable as a laptop might have required a special rider to be covered. Worth looking into though...

Tough break. Next laptop or mobile device you have, install some software to give you a chance at maybe getting it back. Like this maybe.

The "good" news is that the liberals are going to defeat the federal conservatives in the next general election in 2015. I expect that they will reneg on much of the conservative agenda, including almost certainly a defence review and a return to the Romanow' commission's findings on Health Care.
I should add that I believe the author of this article has rather misunderstood the conservative Harper government's ideology and agenda. Harper is a member of a small group of radical tories I am personally familiar with who are not only christian fundamentalists but are proponents of a radical ethos that jingoistically promotes the primacy of Canada in world affairs. According to this agenda, Canada is not only the most "energy rich" country on earth, but is destined (somewhat in line with American manifest destiny) to become an "energy superpower" and exert neo-imperial power around the world. This agenda is very complex and requires an orwelian rewriting of history, which the Harper government has been undertaking for many years now (and in large part explains their election victories). Also important, of course, has been the relative decline of the Bloc Quebec and the implosion of the Liberal party over the last decade (now reversing).

Switch: interesting, was thinking along the same lines re: an overriding agenda. It does explain a lot. You seem convinced their days are numbered, as the majority bloc.
